By law, you are required to display extracts from certain acts in a prominent position in your workplace for the benefit of your staff. Failure to do so could lead to severe penalties ranging from fines to a criminal record.

By law, you are required to display extracts from certain acts in a prominent position in your workplace for the benefit of your staff. Failure to do so could lead to severe penalties ranging from fines to a criminal record.
The legislation is as follows.
First Aid
On any site where 5 or more persons are employed, a first aid box or boxes the content of which is regulated in terms of minimums for both offices and factories, must be made available and kept up to standard and be accessible in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 general safety regulations (sec 3). In addition to these, for any site where more then 10 staff are employed, a registered first aider must be available during working hours as the provision of prompt first aid to injured staff is legislated by the act.
Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 General Administration of 2003 (sec 4) States where 5 or more persons are employed, the relevant regulations must be readily available for staff and where there are less the regulation states it should be available at the request of the employee.
Basic Conditions of Employment Act of 1997
According to the General Administrative Regulation 2 a copy of the act must be displayed to inform employees of their basic rights.

Incidents and Investigations
General Administration of 2003 Section 9 Anexure 1 states that records of all Incidents and Investigations resulting in injury that requires more than first aid will be kept for a period of 3 years.
Employment Equity Act of 1998
General Administrative Regulation 5 Duty to inform (sec 25) states that a summary of the act must be displayed for all staff to see.
